One of the most important issues facing the country right now is health care reform. While the industry itself is under a micro scope, it seems to be an industry with the most available jobs at a time when unemployment numbers are so high. Half of the quickest growing fields of occupations are related to healthcare providing a substantial amount of healthcare jobs. The healthcare industry offers more than fourteen million healthcare jobs. In the next decade there will be over three million new healthcare jobs, which puts the industry at the top of the job opportunity list. Many claim that the amount healthcare jobs is due to the quick and massive growth of the older generations and advancement of technologies. A healthcare job can be obtained at many different places. Each healthcare job is different in terms of responsibility and requirements.
• One of the most common places to find a healthcare job would be a hospital. At a hospital, one could be anything from a receptionist or a bill collector to a nurse or a doctor. Each healthcare job held at a hospital is responsible in keeping the system working.
• Nursing homes and rehabilitation centers are also popular places to find a healthcare job. At these centers, patients are given constant treatment in order to help them recover from a mental or physical condition. NUrsing homes are for individuals who need constant care and cannot take care of themselves.
• They might not have many but someone who works at a doctor’s office has a healthcare job. These jobs include receptionists, assistants and all types of doctors.
There are many other places that have jobs in the healthcare industry. Since there is so much debate about healthcare reform, many Americans have become hesitant about working in the industry. If reform is passed, the major changes will not become effective right away. However, the reform being proposed would be for the insurance companies and many of the healthcare jobs listed above would not be affected. Applying for and possibly accepting a job in the healthcare insurance industry raises questions of morality for many people. Health insurance companies have a history of manipulating it’s members for many years. These companies keep raising their premiums while not improving the quality of the care given to patients. The President of the United States is proposing a government option health insurance plan. If put into action, this would force competition in the industry by making companies lower their premiums and improving their care. Whether reform is passed or not, the healthcare industry will remain one of the fastest growing industries for jobs.
